STACC Welcomes St Albans Mayor in Bike Week
St Albans Mayor, Councillor Kate Morris, is expected to join us for the 6 mile Family Ride along the Alban Way on Thursday 21st June.
The event starts at 6:30 pm.
Finalised Venue for the Start & Finish is Earthworks, Hixberry Lane.
(Venue was originally the Highfield Centre, Hill End Lane, next to SPAR, but in view of the Mayor's visit we have changed it to Earthworks. We will be looking out for people who arrive at Highfield Centre and redirecting them)
We hope that there will be a good turn-out of STACC members to welcome the Mayor in style.
Success of the Cycle Campaign depends so much on good impressions made to the District Council and encouragement to the folks of St Albans who will see reports and photographs of the event in the local press.

This is a great opportunity to reinforce Kate's interest in initiatives to support cycling in St Albans so please do come along and let he know what yoiu think is needed.
A hip operation and other commitments has meant she has done very little cycling in recent years but I shall be going out for a trial run with her on Thursday so, perhaps, she will decide to be a more regular cyclist in future.

May I recommend the 5 miles to fabulous ride on 14 July as a suitable kick-off point for more regular cycling. 5mtf is aimed at women 'returner' cyclists, being very easy paced, mainly on quiet roads to demonstrate good routes to get around, but also looking to help with roadcraft and riding technique.
Well folks, thanks for responding so well.
Doug reports that the turn-out was a record - 53 riders comprising 9 adult male; 10 adult female (including 1 Mayor); 27 girls; 5 boys; 2 tiny's on trailer bikes.
Well done to all & thanks to Doug.
